Mabedi: Ajax plan worked to perfection

Cape Town - Kaizer Chiefs caretaker coach Patrick Mabedi has hailed his players for executing his plan to perfection in their 2-1 win over Ajax Cape Town.

Saturday's victory clinched a CAF Confederation Cup place for Amakhosi at the end of a difficult season. Bernard Parker and Joseph Molangoane scored for Chiefs.

"I also need to thank the players, they did exactly what we spoke about," Mabedi told SuperSport.

"I told them at half-time that they just need to be patient.

"We chose Shabba (Siphiwe Tshabalala) and Molangoane to open it wider and we capitalised on that.

"Overall, I think we should have scored more goals."

After taking over from Steve Komphela last month with the team in danger of finishing outside the top three, Mabedi steered them into third place, four points clear of Maritzburg United.
