Mabasa delighted to open his account for Pirates

Cape Town - Tshegofatso Mabasa is delighted that he got off the mark in the goal scoring charts with Orlando Pirates after the forward struck a brace against Chippa United on Saturday.

Mabasa's goals helped the Soweto giants to a 2-1 victory over the Chilli Boys in what their first victory in six matches and also a first win for interim head coach Rulani Mokwena.

The former Bloemfontein Celtic striker, who joined the Buccaneers before the start of this season, gave credit to his team-mates.

Mabasa said on Pirates' social media accounts: "I am glad to have to scored my first goal for the club which was followed by my second as well.

"I believe it was all about team effort. The coach spoke to us about showing how much of a lion we can be. That aggression.

"I believe it is what we showed. We were hungry. We wanted more than our opponents.

"We managed to finish on top and get the result. It is what we really needed."

Mabasa and the Pirates fans will hope to continue his goal scoring form when they take on Bidvest Wits on Saturday.

Kick-off is at 20:15.
