Sirino stirring the pot for Sundowns as he plays a clever ball towards Zwane, who makes his way into the penalty are and is unmarked but the winger slips before he could even get a touch on the ball.
Mphahlele opened the scoring for Amakhosi while Nascimento equalised from the penalty spot.
All to play for still. Exciting encounter!

Lovely crowds at Loftus to inspire any player to excel.— Marks Maponyane (@MarksMaponyane) August 4, 2018
Lovely crowds at Loftus to inspire any player to excel.
25' GOAL! GOAL! GOAL!
23' CHANCE! Billiat makes a good run, but the Sundowns defence manage to stop him from shooting.
FULL-TIME: MAMELODI SUNDOWNS 1-1 KAIZER CHIEFS. The second half was quieter than the first, but nevertheless, what a start to the season we have seen. Goals came from Mphahlele and Nascimento. These teams look set to be at or near the top come May.
SUB: Solinas decides that 'Shabba' has run his race. The veteran is replaced by Ekstein.
Meanwhile, Brockie has picked up a yellow card -- I think it's for impeding Khune as he looked to get the ball forward. Not entirely sure.
Sundowns continue to push forward in search of a late goal. Mabunda goes for a speculative shot from range, but Khune gets behind it and makes a comfortable save.
Four minutes of stoppage time have been added on. Sundowns look the more likely to find a winner of the two sides at the moment.
Tshabalala is stretchered off the field to receive treatment.
Chiefs work the ball to Paez, who goes for goal from around the edge of the area, but his effort goes well astray.
SUB: Amakhosi goalscorer Mphahlele is replaced by Moleko for the last few minutes.
Onyango is forced to scramble away a cross from Parker, which was aimed at Castro at the near post.
SUB: Morena comes on in place of Sirino, who had a mixed afternoon. Although he looked threatening at times, he also made an error which led to the opening goal of the match.
Brockie looks to get in behind Cardoso and on the end of a long ball aimed towards him, but the defender holds him off.
SUB: That was Castro's last involvement today. After a sound performance, he makes way to be replaced by Paez.
DOUBLE SUB: Maboe comes on to make his Mamelodi Sundowns debut, while Mabunda comes on with him. The pair replace Vilakazi and Kekana. 'Vila' was quiet today, while Kekana had some nervy moments.
Billiat goes for goal from the free-kick, but he fires over the target. From there, he didn't have much room to get the ball to dip.
Chiefs win a free-kick for handball just outside the penalty area. Perhaps it was a relatively harsh one, but in any case, here comes...
SAVE! Billiat plays a wonderful ball through for Castro, but Onyango slides in to put him off. He rushes his shot and fires off target. A corner is given. Onyango claims he didn't touch the ball, but in any case, he gathers from the ensuing corner.
Tshabalala aims a cross in towards Castro from the left. It only just evades him. From the following passage of play, Billiat threatens to cause trouble, meeting the ball with a surprise flick, but can't connect cleanly. Chiefs are starting to settle.
Tshabalala shoots from just inside his area, but can't steer his effort on target. Pressure continues to build on the hosts.
Onyango feels he's been obstructed as he looks to deal with a ball aimed in his direction. He wags his finger at Hlungwani one too many times and picks up a yellow card for dissent.
CLOSE! Sirino tries a long-range strike -- seemingly with the outside of his boot -- and it curls just wide of the target! He looks dangerous at the moment.
SAVE! Chiefs allow the ball to bounce as Cardoso fails to head a ball aimed into the dangerous area. Brockie shoots from close range, but Khune makes a great stop!
Parker's cross from the left comes off the top of the crossbar! Wow -- imagine if that went in. What a way that would be to give your side the lead in such a massive game!
Tshabalala's corner can only find Brockie at the near post. Sirino looks to hit Chiefs on the counter, but he's dispossessed. This game is still an end-to-end contest.
CHANCE! Ntshangase tees Billiat on the left side of the box. He goes for goal and forces a strong save from Onyango at the near post.
Sundowns look the stronger of the two sides at the start of the second half, but this game has shown many times already that it can turn in an instant.
Sirino looks to create another opportunity, but overhits his pass aimed at Brockie. Amakhosi can breathe.
CHANCE! Sirino cuts inside from the left and tees Zwane up, but the latter can't catch the ball and the opportunity goes to waste. He should have scored there.
KICK-OFF! The game is back underway at Loftus Versfeld. Let's hope the second half picks up where the first left off, because this has been a thrilling game to watch. There were no half-time substitutions.
Katsande is yellow-carded for a nasty challenge on Lakay. To make matters worse, he appears to have hurt himself too. Pitso Mosimane will have no sympathy -- he labelled the Zimbabwean a "bully" last season.
HALF-TIME: MAMELODI SUNDOWNS 1-1 KAIZER CHIEFS. All square at the break. Mphahlele gave Amakhosi an early lead, but Nascimento equalised from the penalty spot. Both teams have come close to scoring more and this game looks as if it has goals in it.
Lakay finds himself in a lovely position on the left, but his ball across goal is gathered by Khune! He should have done better!
We're into three minutes of stoppage time at the end of what has been a brilliant half of football. The game has slowed down for the moment, but don't rule out a late twist.
Lakay tries a shot from range, but fires way over the target. This is absolute end-to-end football.
Billiat turns Arendse, who cynically tugs him back and picks up a yellow card. Sundowns are struggling to cope with their former teammate.
CROSSBAR! Lakay picks out Brockie at the far post from the ensuing free-kick and the Kiwi volleys the ball into the ground and into the crossbar! My word, how unlucky can he get?!
There's a bit of a scare at the back again for Sundowns, but Billiat is dispossessed at the vital moment. He puts in the ensuing corner, setting up Cardoso for the strike. The defender gets under the ball and fires horribly off target.
Castro puts in another unsavoury challenge on Kekana. This battle is thrilling to watch, but the two players will need to be careful -- especially now that they've both been booked.
Mathoho is down on the field and appears as if he's in some serious pain. Players from both sides gather around him.
Castro has picked up a yellow card for a cynical challenge on Kekana -- which was perhaps intended as retribution for the earlier challenge from the Masandawana skipper.
Brockie charges through as he looks to add a goal of his own to the one he played a role in creating. However, he is dispossessed before he can shoot.
GOAL, SUNDOWNS, NASCIMENTO! 1-1: Nascimento steps up and converts! I'm not sure how heavy the contact from Cardoso was, but his challenge was clumsy. Chiefs were on top, but Sundowns have a lifeline now.
PENALTY, SUNDOWNS! Brockie goes down after a nudge from Cardoso and Hlungwani gives the penalty!
Kekana gives the ball away to Billiat, who races away, but can't fire a clean strike at goal at the end of the counter-attack. Easy pickup for Onyango.
Khune goes to ground after a challenge from Brockie. There's a roar from the crowd. Perhaps they feel he's gone to ground too late. However, the challenge from Brockie was late itself.
Khune gets play back underway. He's all good to continue after all.
Kekana is yellow carded for the challenge on his former teammate. He's arguably lucky to get away with only that.
Kekana catches Castro in the back with a high boot. Billiat doesn't like it and has to be pulled away to prevent a scuffle. Nasty challenge, that.
Eager to atone for his error, Sirino glides through on the counter, but then he slips at a vital moment. Unfortunate.
CHANCE! Pinball in the Kaizer Chiefs box off a Sundowns free-kick. Brockie heads across for Zwane, who heads for goal, but misses the target!
GOAL, CHIEFS, MPHAHLELE! 0-1: Mphahlele wins the ball off Sirino in a dangerous area and Sundowns find themselves in trouble. Mphahlele shoots through the legs of Arendse and into the bottom corner! An ex-Sundowns man gives Chiefs the lead!
Both teams are showing attacking intent early on. Chiefs hit Sundowns on the counter. Billiat's pace is such a threat. He looks for a foul, but play continues. Castro goes for goal, but his shot is deflected off Lakay and ends up being tame.
Sundowns win an early free-kick on the left. Sirino curls it into the box, but it's headed away. Keep an eye out for Sirino, by the way. He was absolutely breathtaking in Sundowns' home win over Togo-Port.
KICK-OFF! Jeremy Brockie gets the game underway for Sundowns. He scored when the teams played each other a fortnight ago in the Shell Helix Ultra Cup. Who will make the difference today?
Victor Hlungwani is the referee for this eagerly anticipated clash -- the first game for Kaizer Chiefs in the Giovanni Solinas era. The new coach is on their bench today.
The pre-match handshakes follow on from that. The teams appear very friendly, but you can bet your bottom dollar they won't be once the action is underway.
Minister of Arts and Culture Nathi Mthethwa gives a speech on the field and urges the crowd to help with the #IAmTheFlag campaign. Captains Khune and Kekana instruct supporters to wave their South African flags and say: "I am the flag."
Following on from the captain's speeches, the two teams sing the national anthem. This has the feel of a cup final -- and it's only the first game of the Absa Premiership season!
The teams are out of the tunnel and lined up on the field. The crowd is in good voice, as expected.
The game has been delayed slightly -- with kick-off now scheduled for 15:15. There are plenty of fans still rushing into the stadium for this eagerly anticipated encounter.
The headline news is that Khama Billiat starts his first competitive fixture against his former teammates. Having spent five trophy-laden years with Masandawana, he will now look to help Kaizer Chiefs to victory on their turf.
