Ernst Middendorp: "Conceding a goal like this is definitely not acceptable... it happened against Sundowns unbelievable to lose and now again and unbelievable to lose here!
"We have this goalkeeping issue but on the other side we have not taken our chances!"
Benni McCarthy: "Chiefs could have put the game to bed if I'm honest... We then started creating chances but I would have been happy with a point.
"I'm happy to take a smash and grab win today!"

Full-Time: Kaizer Chiefs 0-1 CT City
A howler by Virgil Vries and wasteful finishing gifts Cape Town City 3 points against Kaizer Chiefs!
Vries must take the blame for that goal but we also need to talk about the chances missed by Billiat, Ntshangase, Ekstein & Castro #AbsaPrem— Nyaku Hlakudi (@Tumi_Hlakudi) January 30, 2019

28' Kaizer Chiefs now with a sustained bit of pressure as City can't seem to get their foot on the ball.

The clock ticks into four minutes of stoppage time at FNB Stadium. City are doing a good job, hanging on with 10 men.
In the passage of play following a Chiefs corner, Ekstein has a shot at goal from just outside the box following some pinball in the area. However, he fires well off target.
Moon meets a cross from the left with his head, but steers the ball wide of goal. Leeuwenburgh is in no hurry to take the ensuing goal-kick.
FULL-TIME: KAIZER CHIEFS 0-1 CAPE TOWN CITY. Benni McCarthy's men have picked up a vital three points at FNB Stadium thanks to a Vries error, which was punished by Edmilson! They move within four points of the top of the table.
SAVE! Vries redeems himself somewhat, keeping out an effort one-on-one after City hit Chiefs at speed.
Leeuwenburgh nearly makes a howler of his own as he spills the ball without it moving at any great speed. At least it doesn't go into his own net or to the feet of an opponent in the danger area! Instead, it goes safely behind.
RED CARD, CITY, KEWUTI! Kewuti is sent off for a late challenge on Ntshangase! Benni McCarthy is fuming on the touchline — and unsurprisingly so. It was a poor challenge, but Kewuti looked as if he was trying to pull out.
Middendorp decides it's time to chase the game. Moon is on in place of Mashiane, adding fresh legs to Amakhosi's attack.
GOAL, CITY, EDMILSON 0-1: Vries spills a delivery into the area at the worst possible time. Edmilson Dove is there to turn the ball into the net! City take the lead at FNB Stadium!
Having come on in the first half, Erasmus now has to make way. That's unfortunate for him. Seedat comes on in his place.
Erasmus is down with cramp and Cape Town City put the ball out. The visitors have really been in the wars today! Meanwhile, Mokeke picks up a yellow card.
POST! Leeuwenburgh punches Billiat's delivery away from the corner, but Ntshangase gets the ball and takes a long-range shot. It deflects off Mngonyama and against the post! That's as close as anyone has come tonight!
SAVE! Castro receives the ball from Billiat just outside the box, takes it in, and lets fly. Leeuwenburgh has to fly to make the save, tipping behind for a corner.
Ekstein looks to hit City on the counter following a clearance off a Links corner. The Chiefs man takes two opponents out of the game, but Martin recovers to dispossess him.
Erasmus is nearly played through. Under pressure, he puts the ball across the face of goal from the right, but can't quite get it into the danger area. Chiefs need to be careful at the back.
Chiefs are bombarding Cape Town City with crosses at the moment. The visiting defence can't afford to switch off for a moment.
Castro created the best chance of this half so far when he picked Billiat out with a cross from the right. He goes for that same ball. This time, it doesn't come off. It's hit too close to the 'keeper.
There haven't been many opportunities so far in the second half. Perhaps the teams might have chatted over half-time about tightening up.
CHANCE! Castro's cross from Chiefs' right picks out Billiat at the far post, but he doesn't connect cleanly on the volley. City survive again.
Erasmus aims a free-kick into the area. It's intercepted at the near post, but cleared behind for a City corner. Links delivers that, but it's headed away. City get the ball back and Links goes for a long-range shot, but it goes out for a throw-in!
KICK-OFF! The second half is underway at FNB Stadium. Erasmus gets it started. Edmilson Dove is on in place of Modise for City and Castro in place of Parker for Amakhosi.
Moleko has been forced off after that collision, with Ngezana coming on to replace him.
The game heads into three minutes of stoppage time at the end of an exciting first half at FNB Stadium.
HALF-TIME: KAIZER CHIEFS 0-0 CAPE TOWN CITY. The two teams head into the break as they started. Both goalkeepers have shone so far, while this game has had everything but goals. Chiefs have been the better side so far.
The half ticks into its final minutes, although there is bound to be some stoppage time. Benni McCarthy has some work to do in order to help his team tighten up. However, Leeuwenburgh has been amazing.
After a collision with Vries, Moleko is receiving medical attention. Vries came out of the clash better than he did.
CHANCE! Ntshangase slips Billiat through with a wonderful pass. Leeuwenburgh is alert once again and rushes to the Zimbabwean's feet, preventing him from getting the shot away. Great goalkeeping.
Chiefs look to hit City with another fast-paced attack, going through Ntiya-Ntiya on Amakhosi's right flank. He cuts inside and Chiefs move the ball to Ntshangase, who fails to pick out a team-mate with the killer pass.
SAVE! Chiefs hit City with a lightning fast break. They look set to score, but Leeuwenburgh does a great job once again, blocking Billiat's low strike!
Cape Town City have struggled to break out of their half for much of this game, but they showed a few minutes ago just how dangerous they can be.
Parker is set up inside the box, this time by Mashiane — but once again, can't get a proper shot away to really test Leeuwenburgh. The 'keeper saves with little trouble. Opportunities are coming thick and fast though!
CHANCE! At the other end, Cape Town City catch Amakhosi by surprise. Modise slips Mkhize through on the right with a beautiful long ball. The skipper keeps it alive and picks out Links with a cross, but his shot is saved by Vries!
CHANCE! Billiat picks out Parker from the left with a clever cross. He fails to connect cleanly, but his shot nearly deflects in off Cupido. Leeuwenburgh is forced to make an alert save!
CHANCE! Billiat, clearly hungry for goals, looks to beat Leeuwenburgh at his near post from inside the box after being teed up by a lovely Parker backheel. The Dutch 'keeper reacts well to beat the ball away.
CHANCE! Ntshangase slips Mashiane through on the left and he squares for Billiat, but the Zimbabwean is off balance as he strikes the ball and misses the target! He looks livid with himself.
Mkhize and Martin have decided to soldier on for City.
Replays show that Mashiane stood on Martin. No wonder McCarthy is fuming.
And now Martin is down and looks as if he is in serious pain. Benni McCarthy looks furious — and understandably so!
Mkhize is down receiving medical attention now. Having already lost Mthembu to injury, they won't want to lose their skipper too.
Bad news for Cape Town City as Mthembu succumbs to his injury. He is replaced by Kermit Erasmus.
The game has got off to a relatively slow start, although Chiefs have threatened to unlock the City defence at times.
CHANCE! Billiat's free-kick from the left picks out Cardoso. The centre-back rises up, but heads wide of the post. Leeuwenburgh surely had his heart in his mouth!
Chiefs have put in some heavy challenges in the early minutes. Mthembu is currently receiving medical attention after being on the end of one from Hadebe.
KICK-OFF! Billiat gets the game underway for Amakhosi. They were shaky in their 1-0 extra-time win over ABC Motsepe League side Tornado FC in their last game. They'll be looking to recover.
