Letsoaka identifies set-piece concern

Cape Town - Free State Stars coach Serame Letsoaka is imploring his men to show more focus at set-pieces after conceding from a corner kick against Mamelodi Sundowns.

The failure to deal with a corner just before half-time on Sunday allowed Sundowns defender Motjeka Madisha to fire the ball into the net for what turned out to be the winner in a  1-0 victory for the Brazilians.

The result, a second consecutive defeat this week for Ea Lla Koto, left the club just one point above the relegation zone.

Letsoaka says his players need to be more plugged in and aware of their duties when defending set-pieces.

"Critical phases where players need to be extra alert, and we are often getting this, you will see," Letsoaka said after the match.

"This is where the level of concentration must be at its highest, it is a set piece, it's a critical phase.

"But these are the things that have been happening against us, free-kicks against Baroka we got a corner kick again, we conceded somebody lost their marker.

"It's not a team mistake, it is an individual's mistake, but we continue to try and correct these things to make sure that they don't happen again and I think from this performance today we taking this performance into our next game against Platinum Stars," he added.

The Stars boss did have some words of praise for goalkeeper Thela Ngobeni's outstanding display against Sundowns.

"I think Thela played very well and I thought he was going to be man of the match because of the save he made today. He made some good saves, especially from the free kicks, one-on-ones he also made a good save from there. He played extremely well today."

Ea Lla Koto are next in action on April 26 when they face Platinum Stars in Rustenburg.
