Leopards on why they suspended Johnson

Cape Town - Black Leopards have explained their reasons for suspending head coach Cavin Johnson instead of firing him.

Johnson had only been in the role for less than a month but has now been replaced by assistant Allan Clark on an interim basis while Leopards assess their options.

"It's for the poor performance," Leopards spokesman Berry Ramunenyiwa told KickOff.

"But the decision yesterday was just to suspend him and then we will see what happens going from there.

"That's why... remember the assistant (coach) was brought by him. Ja, he's the one that recommended this guy Allan. Yeah, so we will see how it goes.

"The one thing that we are doing is we need to investigate and see what seems to be the problem. It might also not be his problem, there might be other problems.

"But then the other things, you can see the squad was being chopped and changed regularly. We don't know if they were still trying [new combinations], coming right, not used to them.

"So yeah, we will see what happens in Sunday's game."

Lidoda Duvha face a difficult challenge in their next encounter against an in-form Stellenbosch FC at Thohoyandou Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
