Cape Town - Former Orlando Pirates defender Lucky Lekgwathi has revealed he has spoken to ex-teammate Andile Jali about his move to Mamelodi Sundowns and there are no hard feelings.

Lekgwathi captained Pirates during their famous 'double-treble' between 2010 and 2012, with Jali playing an instrumental role in midfield.

After being linked with a return to Pirates from KV Oostende, Jali ultimately joined former Bucs midfield partner Oupa Manyisa at Sundowns earlier this month.

"I and him (Jali); we spoke, and you know sometimes when someone explains to you, you tend to understand what the reasons are," Lekgwathi said as quoted by KickOff website.

"Obviously I'll give him my full support. I played with Andile; Andile grew up with us because he came to us when he was a youngster (in 2009), competing with Benson Mhlongo (for game-time)."

Sundowns and Pirates battled it out for the 2017/18 Premiership title, with Masandawana emerging victorious.

There is no love lost between the two clubs, but Lekgwathi wishes Jali the best nevertheless.

"You can see him, he's a lion. So, at the same time I'm happy for him to go to Sundowns," Lekgwathi, who retired in 2016, said of Jali.

"Obviously as a Buccaneer, we still love, and we care about him."
