Lebusa, Johannes ready for Cape derby showdown

Cape Town - Ajax Cape Town captain Mosa Lebusa believes their Cape derby clash against Cape Town City will be an interesting encounter.

Cape Town Stadium will host the Absa Premiership tie and Lebusa is under the impression that city will be divided into two colours.

“There’s no doubt that City had a good season last year,” Lebusa said at a press conference.

“This season we have new players, hungry players, and we want those bragging rights.

“The city will be divided into two colours, and I think it’s important for us to try win the game. Last season they won both games and were a great side, but this season it’s different.

“It’s going to be an interesting game,” he said.

“Both teams are going to go at each other, and I urge the Ajax fans to come and support us, and hopefully we’ll get the three points.”

Meanwhile, the Citizens captain Robyn Johannes is aware that most of the City players are Cape Town-based and will not only want to impress coach Benni McCarthy, but also their friends and family.

“That makes it a bit more special,” Johannes said ahead of Saturday's clash.

“We have many Cape Town-based players, many of their family and friends will be in the stand and they want to leave the stadium happy, so big bragging rights on stake.

“We have to do it for them as well.”

Kick off is at 15:00.

I'd keep Siya captain for now, but look to have someone else for 2027.
