Lebese refusing to sulk over lack of game-time

Cape Town - Mamelodi Sundowns winger George Lebese says he does not feel discouraged at his lack of playing time for the club since joining from Kaizer Chiefs, and is ready to take his chance.

Lebese made just 15 appearances in all competitions in 2017/18 for Sundowns, and was put on a weight loss programme after coach Pitso Mosimane and his technical team deemed him to be overweight.

However, the 29-year-old has seemingly responded positively by shedding the excess poundage and he now takes the view he is ready to display his talents in the first team.

Speaking to Kickoff, he said: "I think I am ready. I'm fit, I've lost weight and I am waiting for my chance.

"I just have to have time to understand what the coach requires from me, so it was a learning season for me and no excuses in this one. I know what the coach wants, I am just waiting for my chance.

"I speak to him (Mosimane) regularly. I need feedback to know what I must improve on. I have never worked this hard in my entire career. Competition is good for the team. I can't sulk, I just have to work hard."

The left-side attacker may get his opportunity to make his mark when the Brazilians take on AS Togo-Port in a crucial CAF Champions League Group C match on Friday.
