Lebese: Injuries affected my season

Cape Town - Kaizer Chiefs winger George Lebese feels he would have had a bigger impact this season had it not been for his injury problems.

Lebese started this season with a rich vein of form but after being sidelined for most of the campaign he only managed to start 20 times across all competitions.

"I wish I would have done better," he told Soccer Laduma. "It's true I scored eight goals but I think I would have done better. The injury I suffered also affected my performance this season."

Despite his troubles, the 27-year-old still pipped Willard Katsande to the top goalscorer award at the club by one goal, and he admits he's looking forward to the new season.

"I wish I could be injury free next season so that I can have a better one not just for me but for the team."
