Cape Town - Mamelodi Sundowns attacker George Lebese has confirmed that he is seeking a move away from the club after not featuring so far this season.
The former Kaizer Chiefs player told TimesLIVE that he is resigned to leaving Masandawana to resurrect a career that has stalled since his move at the end of the 2016/2017 season.
Reports suggested that head coach Pitso Mosimane was unimpressed with the player's physical condition after showing up 8kg overweight, but Lebese maintains he did everything to win back a starting birth.
"To be quite honest I can't really understand what happened‚" Lebese said. "I was able to improve anything they told me to. So I can happily look at myself in the mirror and say that I've tried everything.
"It’s just that it didn't work out. As to pointing out what it was‚ I am clueless – I don't know."
Lebese has been linked to Cape Town City in recent weeks and was in the Mother City during the international break.
The 29-year-old confirmed that he needed to leave Chloorkop and informed the club of his desire to move on.
"It didn't happen the way I expected. So‚ like a professional‚ I had a couple of meetings and I'm looking to make a move next year.
"It was disappointing. It was a childhood dream. I'm glad that it happened. No hard feelings. Like I said‚ it wasn't what I thought it would be.
"I'm not angry. I'm just glad that I could easily tick that box and say‚ 'I've fulfilled my dream'‚ rather than living with regrets.
"It doesn't look like it's going to change. So I'd rather look for opportunities."
