Cape Town - Kaizer Chiefs midfielder George Lebese admits that more is expected of him after he was awarded with the PSL Goal of the Month.
According to the club’s official website, midfield maestro was rewarded for his marvellous goal scored in the 94th minute against Ajax Cape Town at FNB Stadium on Saturday, October 15, 2016.
Lebese shared the podium with Marc van Heerden, Oscarine Masuluke and Percy Tau, who won the Absa Premiership Goal of the Month for September, November and December respectively.
The 28-year-old walked away with R5 000 and will compete with the other winners of this monthly award for the coveted Goal of the Season at the end of the season.
"More was expected from me," reflected Lebese about his PSL season so far, after accepting his trophy for the Goal of the Month for October.
"However, I’m working hard and when given an opportunity I will grab it with both hands."
When probed about the Amakhosi goals coming mostly from defenders and midfielders, Lebese adamantly responded: "Defenders win championships and strikers win games."
Meanwhile, Chiefs will be taking on Mamelodi Sundowns in a Premiership match on Saturday and Lebese is well aware of the Brazilians quality.
"We know their quality and we will be ready to counter them," Lebese added.
"It is going to be a tough match. We are playing against the African Champions and they deserve respect. We are working hard to prepare for this game."
