Leal: We defended well

Cape Town – Polokwane City coach Julio Leal believes his side’s stalemate against Kaizer Chiefs away from home is a good result.

Following a bright opening spell from both teams, Polokwane grabbed the lead through Thobani Mncwango's headed effort on 30 minutes.

However, their lead was short-lived as Erick Mathoho levelled matters with a header of his own just six minutes later.

Chiefs dominated proceedings after the half-time break but despite creating a whole host of clear-cut chances they were unable to find a way past the impressive George Chigova in the Polokwane goal.

“Good game, we started well, well balanced, co-ordinated, we scored the first and conceded immediately after, but we never gave up of the attack,” Leal said as quoted by KickOff.

“The other team changed tactically to get more attacking strength but we defended well and had good attacks, it was a good game.

“The result for us was not good because we are fighting for three points but away from home against a powerful team like Kaizer Chiefs, we can go home with one point and with time now before we play in the Nedbank Cup.”
