Cape Town - Golden Arrows scored a penalty late to salvage a 1-1 draw away to Cape Town City in an Absa Premiership clash on Sunday.

Kermit Erasmus had given the Citizens the lead early in the second half but Know Mutizwa converted from the spot three minutes from full-time to make sure both teams took a point at the Cape Town stadium.

After a slow start from both teams, it was City's Riyaad Norodien that almost broke the deadlock 30 minutes into the contest when he tested Arrows keeper Edmore Sibande from a free-kick.

Defender Taariq Fielies was making his first appearance for the hosts since February due to injury and he almost marked his return with a goal but his snap shot was cleared off the line by Seth Parusnath.

After a rather quiet first half, the sides went into the halftime break with the match still goalless.

Erasmus gave the home side the lead five minutes after the restart with a neat headed finish after a good cross by Norodien.

The forward almost had his brace not long after but he shot straight at Sibande.

Abafana Besthende never gave up though and they got their opportunity from the spot when Sibusiso Sibeko was brought down by City defender Ebrahim Seedat.

Mutizwa stepped up to slot past keeper Peter Leeuwenburgh and made sure Arrows left the Mother City with a share of the spoils.
