Cape Town - Chippa United head coach Clinton Larsen could not hide his frustration after saying that he warned his team about the threat posed by Orlando Pirates forward Tshegofatso Mabasa.
It seems the Chilli Boys' players did not heed the warning of their coach as Mabasa scored twice to hand the Buccaneers a 2-1 victory at the Orlando Stadium on Saturday.
It was the Soweto giants' first win in six games and also the first victory under interim head coach Rulani Mokwena with all the goals in the game coming in the second-half.
Larsen revealed he told his players at the half-time interval that Pirates will be more desperate and that Mabasa will be the major threat. The Chippa mentor said after the game: "In the second half, we knew they had to throw caution to the wind, they were desperate for this win."We needed to stay compact. We spoke about Mabasa, playing with his back to goal, get tight on him don't let him turn you, that's exactly how they got their goal."Disappointed with how we conceded the two goals, but there are a lot of positives to look out for.
"We know we have a few players coming back from injury and suspension, with the likes of Diamond Thopola, [Lehlohonolo] Masalesa to come and strengthen the team going forward."
