Larsen: The win had to come

Cape Town - Golden Arrows coach Clinton Larsen breathed a sigh of relief after his team snapped a five-game winless run by seeing off Polokwane City 2-1 on Saturday.

Gladwin Shitolo and Rodney Ramagalela grabbed the goals in the come-from-behind win for Arrows after Thobani Mncwango had scored the opener at the Old Peter Mokaba Stadium this weekend.

Larsen praised his players for having the mentality to fight back after having gone four games without scoring in the league.

"I thought it was another one of those days - chance after chance, after chance going a begging - but it had to come and the result had to come," Larsen said.

"We've been working very hard, and I'm just happy that the boys got a reward for their performance today."

The former Bloemfontein Celtic mentor explained his tactics after he brought on the winning goal scorer Ramagalela in the second-half.

"Rama was meant to start today but Hellings Mhango hasn't played for over a month, so we want to build his match fitness up and we thought there's no better way than starting him to build it up," the coach said.

"Rama works so hard at training and we knew that with the tiring Polokwane defense, with his pace, if he gets a chance there's a good chance that he could finish it."
