Larsen: It's time to give another leadership an opportunity

Cape Town - Clinton Larsen says he has no qualms with his sacking as coach of Chippa United and admits it is time to give someone else an opportunity.

Larsen was dismissed just five games in to the new season, despite having signed a two-year contract extension just four months ago and having guided the Chilli Boys to a Nedbank Cup semi-final finish last campaign.

But the Port Elizabeth club's poor form in the league, which saw them survive relegation by a whisker last season and having come away with just three points in their opening five fixtures at the beginning of this campaign, forced Mpengesi's hand.

And Larsen was remarkably diplomatic in the wake of his dismissal.

"No, both parties felt that the results were not coming and I'm very fair, and very honest," Larsen told Sowetan.

"It's time to give another leadership an opportunity and I know it's only five games into the season, but I know deep down the chairman (Mpengesi) wants better results and so do I," said the former Manning Rangers midfielder.

The former Bloemfontein Celtic, Maritzburg United and Golden Arrows boss then went on to say that he is no rush to find a new club.

"My agent has already started speaking to some clubs and I would probably find out who they are when I meet him [today]," Larsen confirmed.

"We will take it from there. Like I said, I'm not desperate to go straight to work [at another club], but if the right opportunity comes, I'd definitely consider it," he said.
