Cape Town - Golden Arrows coach Clinton Larsen is looking forward to beating Gordon Igesund when he takes his side to the Makhulong Stadium to play Highlands Park on Saturday.
Larsen played under the former South Africa boss over a decade ago at Manning Rangers and Orlando Pirates where they won two league titles together.
While Igesund went on to win the league two more times, Larsen has developed in his own right as a coach where he is highly rated for the work he did at Bloemfontein Celtic, and now with Arrows.
And ahead of the game against Highlands Park Larsen has expressed his respect for his mentor, but admitted he is determined to secure all three points when their two sides lock horns.
"I've got lot of respect for him and he had a big, big influence on my career both as a player and as a coach, but I also want to try and beat him every time I come up against him," Larsen told KickOff.
"I want to try and prove to him that I have grown as a coach and I want to try and win. But having said that it is always difficult to face a team coached by Gordon and they are always organised and always motivated.
"He motivates the boys but we've just got to make sure we keep doing what we're doing. We have to try and put teams under pressure and try to score goals and be solid defensively."
Kick off is at 15:30.
