Cape Town - Chippa United head coach Clinton Larsen was gushing with praise for club chairperson Siviwe Mpengesi after their win over Polokwane City on Saturday.
The Chilli Boys claimed a vitally important 3-1 win to lift them above Free State Stars and Black Leopards and out of the relegation places with just one match of the season remaining.
There is still work to do, though, as all three clubs are level on points with Chippa ahead purely on goal difference at this stage. But, with just one fixture of the season remaining, the Chilli Boys will be delighted to have the fate of their Absa Premiership future in their own hands.
After the victory, Larsen revealed how Mpengesi had motivated the players ahead of the match.
"The chairperson has addressed them [the players]. He's been very positive. He's been motivating them and I must thank him for his support‚" Larsen said according Sowetan Live.
"He's hardly around‚ he's a businessman so he's hardly in PE. But he does make time from time to time and he's been very supportive from the outside.
"This win is for him‚ he's been under a lot of pressure as well but I think the players knew the importance of the victory here today and they delivered."
Chippa are next in action against Kaizer Chiefs at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium on Saturday.
Kick-off is at 15:00.
