Cape Town - Mamelodi Sundowns left-back Tebogo Langerman says consistency will be vital to his team in both the CAF Champions League and domestic competitions this season.
Sundowns' current good run in the Champions League has seen them reach the semi-finals with a 1-0 victory over Zamalek two weeks ago.
The Premiership champions have also done well at recent a pre-season tournament, the Dr Hage Geingob Cup, beating Namibian side Tigers FC 4-2 on Sunday in the final, having seen off Orlando Pirates 3-1 in the semi-finals.
"Our good run in the Champions League has come as a motivational factor for us indeed with the upcoming PSL season around the corner," Langerman told Vodacom Soccer.
"And last weekend's pre-season tournament we have participated in has also come in handy for us ahead of our away Champions League clash against Enyimba in two weeks' time."
Pitso Mosimane's side, who are leading Group B with nine points, will resume their continental campaign with a trip to Nigeria on August 23 to take on Enyimba.
Langerman added: "As the league's defending champions it will be vital for us to maintain our consistency and take domestic competitions with equal importance as Champions League, and make sure that we do our utmost to avoid complacency to creep in.
"With the depth we have in our squad, I have no doubt we have what it takes to challenge for both continental and domestic competitions."
Having not been afforded a pre-season break due to their participation in the CAF Champions League, Downs will only kick off the new campaign on September 14 against Maritzburg United.
