Laffor ready to prove his worth at Sundowns

Cape Town - Mamelodi Sundowns winger Anthony Laffor is determined to fight for his place in the first team this coming season after a frustrating 2017/18 campaign.

Injuries limited the Liberia international to just 11 Premiership appearances last time out as Pitso Mosimane's side won a record eighth top-flight title.

Laffor received praise from Mosimane after helping the Brazilians claim the inaugural Shell Helix Ultra Cup earlier this month with a 2-1 win over Kaizer Chiefs.

The 33-year-old is hoping to be given more opportunities in 2018/19 as he remains hungry to succeed at Chloorkop.

"It's always good to be on the pitch. Everybody wants to be on the pitch, but sometimes you have to respect the coach's decision," Laffor told KickOff.

"I always keep my focus and I know what I want and I am here to play football. If I get given an opportunity, I want to make use of it.

"I don't have the authority to play myself, but the most important thing is to work hard week in and out on the training ground.

"I think this season is going to be better than last season. I am very hungry and you could see from the game against Chiefs that I want to play.

"I need to listen to my coach, respect my team-mates and we will see how it goes."
