Laffor: Past will count for nothing in CAF final

Cape Town - Mamelodi Sundowns winger Anthony Laffor insists their two wins over Zamalek earlier in the year does not mean the CAF Champions League final is a foregone conclusion.

The Brazilians will face the Egyptian giants in the first-leg of the final at the Lucas Moripe Stadium on Saturday, before playing the second-leg on October 23.

Sundowns recorded back-to-back victories over Zamalek (2-1 and 1-0) in the group stages of the tournament earlier in the campaign.

"It's different football now in a final and this is not the Zamalek we played in the group stage," Laffor told KickOff.

"But the good thing is that we have been doing our analysis very well and what happened in Egypt and South Africa is different. The final is a completely different game.

"We need to capitalise on our chances and we need to score goals. I don't think anybody in the change-room is thinking about our previous results against them.

"We forgot about them and the most important thing is to win on Saturday and wrap up the match here before our return leg."

Kick-off is at 15:00.

No! I think the smart thing to do is start again with a younger skipper ...

I'd keep Siya captain for now, but look to have someone else for 2027.
