Kutumela expecting 'serious' Polokwane test

Cape Town - Orlando Pirates striker Thabiso Kutumela feels Polokwane City will be no pushovers when the two teams clash at New Peter Mokaba Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

The third-placed Buccaneers, who trail front-runners Kaizer Chiefs by two points, are unbeaten after four Premiership outings, having won two and drawn two in the new season.

Meanwhile, Rise and Shine are fifth in the league standings following two consecutive wins before the international break.

"We know we will be up against the much improved side in Polokwane City, who have shown in five league games that they are much improved side compared to that of last season," Kutumela told Vodacom Soccer website.

"They may not have big-name players at their disposal, but they work as a team and they have already shown that they are never prepared to be pushovers in this season.

"So, we are going to take Sunday's game as seriously as we can, because we know we will be up against tough opposition who are likely to give us a run for our money."

The 23-year-old, last season's top goalscorer in the National First Division with 18 goals, is gradually finding his feet at Mayfair after making two substitute's appearances for Pirates thus far.

Kutumela scored his first goal for the Buccaneers in a 1-1 draw against Platinum Stars on 27 September at the Orlando Stadium.

"I was ecstatic to have scored my first goal in Pirates' colours, but I quickly realised after the match that I still have a lot work to do," he admitted.

"Yes, scoring my first goal in the PSL has come as a motivational factor, but I also know that I still have to redouble my efforts to establish myself in the team."
