Komphela: Molangoane has to sell himself

Cape Town - Kaizer Chiefs coach Steve Komphela believes that Joseph Molangoane must prove his value to Amakhosi fans by putting in a run of good performances.

Molangoane, who signed from Chippa United after a protracted battle over his signature, scored his first goal for the Glamour Boys in a crucial 3-2 victory over Polokwane City on 20 December.

The sprightly winger then followed that up with a Man-of-the-Match display in the 2-0 win over Golden Arrows. In that contest, he set up the second goal for Siphiwe Tshabalala with a good cross.

As such, Komphela takes the view that consistency is key for the 28-year-old.

"He's doing well but I thought when he started he was trying too hard, you know how it is. When you start too hard, nothing works. You've got to be at ease, relax and have confidence," he told KickOff.

"This performance (against Arrows), this match, you have to buy supporters and make them understand by selling yourself. You show the qualities that you have and I'm sure they have seen it now.

"Now without giving him license not to perform, they know what to expect even if he's not performing at his best."

Chiefs resume their Premiership campaign with an encounter against Free State Stars on February 7.

The action gets underway from 19:30 at FNB Stadium in Johannesburg.
