Cape Town - Golden Arrows coach Steve Komphela has revealed that he is looking to bolster his defence with one or two more signings before the transfer window closes.
Komphela has identified a lack of depth in the central defensive position as a cause for concern and is specifically looking for stoppers that are good in the air.
The Abafana Bes'thende tactician was brutally honest in his assessment, saying his side 'cannot defend the ball in the air' and 'lack that aggression in defence'.
"We've just been struggling in getting a centre-back, we cannot defend the ball in the air," the former Chiefs mentor said after losing 1-0 to Bidvest Wits in the second semi-final of the Msunduzi Cup.
"You saw the goals we conceded last season, they were all coming from the centre, we lack that aggression in defending.
"We are still looking at centre back, we need someone who is good in the air, who can use the ball. We are Arrows, we want to play, build from the back, defend when it's needed especially in the air. We are trying to sort it out.
"There's a lot of good players available, you just have to be patient, use your scouts and networks. I'm sure we will get messages after this interview about us needing a central defender, someone who has game intelligence and can build up from the back."
