Komphela: I will not step down

Cape Town - Kaizer Chiefs coach Steve Komphela says he will not step down and is prepared for whatever criticism comes his way following the 3-1 loss against Chippa United.

The Soweto giants were condemned to their sixth consecutive league game without victory as the Chilli Boys' superior second-half performance saw them run out 3-2 victors.

The former Free State Stars man has endured a dismal year at helm of Chiefs recording 13 victories, 13 draws and 12 losses in 38 games across all competitions for the club.

"I have never given up in my life," he told reporters.

"I have to stay calm and take the punches; that is a job of the coach. Who else must be punched?

"I must stand and be strong. I will only waver the minute I feel the pressure that should be on me is now getting to my players."

Chiefs occupy seventh position in the standings, having collected 17 points from a possible 36 with their next league clash against Bloemfontein Celtic at the FNB Stadium in a week's time.
