Komphela hints at debut for Mkhabela

Cape Town - Kaizer Chiefs coach Steve Komphela has given a clear hint that midfielder Enocent Mkhabela could make his debut for the club in the Telkom Knockout last 16 against Maritzburg United.

Mkhabela has not featured in a competitive game for Chiefs since joining the club from SuperSport United before the 2016/17 campaign.

The 27-year-old has yet to feature in a matchday squad for the Glamour Boys, but his fortunes could be changing, with George Maluleka suspended after being sent off against Ajax Cape Town.

Komphela has hinted that Mkhabela could see his first action for Amakhosi in the Telkom Knockout against the Team of Choice after Maluleka's suspension.

He said: "We still have Mkhabela waiting to make his Chiefs debut for us. Keagan Buchanan has returned from long term injury and is also looking at an opportunity to play in a competitive match.

"Lucky Baloyi is also ready to play a role when called upon. It is sad that Maluleka got a red card when he was playing a blinder in the middle of the park."

The action this Saturday gets underway from 20:15 at FNB Stadium in Johannesburg.
