Komphela has Chiefs back at work

Cape Town - Kaizer Chiefs have confirmed that the club have resumed training under coach Steve Komphela to prepare for the second half of the season although there are a number of players away due to injury, club commitments and national team duty.

Five Amakhosi stars went into the break with injuries and are still said to be battling their way back to full fitness.

George Lebese has a back problem, William Twala a calf concern, Enocent Mkhabela an abdominal issue, Tsepo Masilela a groin injury and Itumeleng Khune a back ailment.

In addition, Willard Katsande is absent due to his commitments with Zimbabwe at the AFCON in Gabon, where he will no doubt be hoping to help his side progress out of what it a tough group alongside Algeria, Tunisia and Senegal.

Four other players are training with English second-tier outfit Fulham in what Chiefs are describing as an 'experimental visit'. Emmanuel Letlotlo, Lorenzo Gordinho, Siyanda Ngezana and Ryan Moon will only return on January 12.

Meanwhile, four players will be on trial during this period. Gustavo Paez from Italy, Pedro Henrique Dias DeAmorim from Brazil, Miracle Gabeya from Malawi and Ismael Olivier Toure from Ivory Coast are being assessed at Naturena.

Chiefs say they will make an announcement as to player signings before the January transfer window closes on January 31.

Amakhosi will resume their Premiership campaign at home to Free State Stars on February 7.
