Cape Town - Bloemfontein Celtic coach Steve Komphela hailed the depth in his squad after picking up August's Absa Premiership Coach of the Month award on Monday.

It was a perfect day for Phunya Sele Sele, as defender Alfred Ndengane picked up the Player of the Month award. However, according to Komphela, Celtic's key to success goes well beyond just a small number of star players.

"I think Bloemfontein Celtic have got good players, make no mistake," Komphela was quoted as saying by SowetanLIVE.

"The starting 11, very strong. The seven on the bench, very strong. The ones in Bloemfontein, very strong.

"We travelled with 22 to Thohoyandou (to face Black Leopards on Sunday) and we had to leave out four.

"And of the four we had to leave out, we were asking ourselves, 'goodness me, Jacky Motshegwa, good player, (Roggert) Nyundu‚ good player, (Vusi) Shikweni, good player'.

"Who do you leave out, what do you do? Those are all good players."

Komphela was in no mood to discuss his former employers, Kaizer Chiefs, insisting that comparisons between his Celtic side and his team at Amakhosi were futile.

"[I'm] not saying there were no good players in my previous environment (at Chiefs)," he said.

"But I am saying the stage of the project at Bloemfontein Celtic (is different)."

Celtic sit level with Wits at the top of the Absa Premiership table on 13 points. Although they trail the Clever Boys on goal difference, they have the advantage of a game in hand.
