Komphela: Form means nothing in Soweto derby

Cape Town - Kaizer Chiefs coach Steve Komphela has warned that the club's recent winning streak means very little ahead of the Soweto derby against Orlando Pirates on Saturday.

The Glamour Boys have won five and drawn two of their last seven league matches and are still in with a shot of challenging for the Premiership title along with Bidvest Wits, SuperSport United, Cape Town City and Mamelodi Sundowns.

Meanwhile, Pirates are on a less stellar run having picked up just three points out of a possible 15 in 2017.

Nonetheless, Komphela believes that form means nothing in the derby.

"Maybe we could say Chiefs has been doing well, better than Pirates, maybe people coming into the match will say we expect Chiefs to win, but all that is thrown out of the window when it is a derby," he told reporters.

"The same will happen next week and I am sure, if we go into the match thinking that we are better off, then we would be fooled.

"We are going there ready, understanding that the match is very important for us."

Kick off is at 15:30.
