Komphela: Eymael must not come back to South Africa

Cape Town - Lamontville Golden Arrows coach Steve Komphela has continued his war of words with Luc Eymael saying that he must not come back to South Africa.

Komphela described Eymael as a 'mercenary' back in May 2018. This after, Eymael's Free State Stars side beat Maritzburg United 1-0 in the Nedbank Cup final. Eymael appeared to make a dig at the former Kaizer Chiefs coach in the post-match press-conference, saying that he had won his first trophy in his second year in South Africa‚ while he knows "some of the guys who have worked 13 years without winning a trophy".

Eymael, who now coaches Cairo-based Tala'ea El Gaish, was a divisive figure in his time in South Africa during stints with Stars and Polokwane City during which time he had plenty of run-ins with his PSL colleagues.

Eymael was also accused of holding the clubs he coached at to ransom, giving them an ultimatum that if they did not renew his contract, he would leave the club.

The Belgian mentor has recently expressed his desire to make a return to South African football, but Komphela has not forgiven nor forgotten.

"That one must not come to South Africa‚" Komphela said.

"I’m not being disrespectful‚ but Luc must not come to South Africa.

"This guy has disrespected people tremendously and this nation would be naïve‚ if not very close to stupid‚ if they were to allow such a man to come and work here.

"Why give the man the respect and resources that belong to our country when he thinks so little of us."
