Komphela: Chiefs' winning spirit is back

Cape Town - Kaizer Chiefs coach Steve Komphela believes that the club has recaptured its winning mentality, following an impressive recent 2-0 victory over high flying Cape Town City.

Amakhosi and the Citizens played out a scintillating contest last Wednesday but Chiefs eventually prevailed courtesy of goals from veteran Siphiwe Tshabalala, as well as teenage midfielder Wiseman Meyiwa.

As such, Komphela takes the view that confidence levels are once again booming at Naturena, and that he is hopeful better is yet to come from his men in 2017/18.

The 50-year-old told the club's official website, "The win on Wednesday has brought back the winning spirit in the camp. I've said it before, Chiefs and winning are synonymous. All our fixtures are big games. Opponents also rise to the occasion when they play against Chiefs.

"There's a buzz in the camp, let alone in the streets. The feedback that we are receiving is encouraging and the players are aware of the excitement they bring to the people when they play good football and win matches."
