Komphela bemoans mid-season break

Cape Town - Kaizer Chiefs head coach Steve Komphela feels the festive break may halt his side's progression in the Absa Premiership after moving into second place on the standings.

Amakhosi secured back-to-back victories in the league last week, after the 1-0 win over Platinum Stars was followed up with a 1-0 victory against Ajax Cape Town at the Moses Mabhida Stadium.

And with Chiefs moving six points off leaders Mamelodi Sundowns in their final game of 2017, Komphela has been left frustrated as his side will need to generate momentum and form again in the new year - when they meet SuperSport United on the sixth of January.

"We hope we'll keep up the momentum but we now have to go off for a minor recess and be back for the game against SuperSport," he told reporters.

"It feels more like an international break where you are just about to get your momentum and then there is a stoppage.

"We'll have to come back again and try fight and get into SuperSport with the energy we showed against Ajax. It’s going to be very difficult."
