Khuzwayo ready to battle Khune

Cape Town - Kaizer Chiefs goalkeeper Brilliant Khuzwayo says he is ready to challenge established number one Itumeleng Khune for the starting position at Naturena in 2017.

Khuzwayo featured heavily for the Glamour Boys going into the Christmas break as Khune was still recovering from a niggling back injury.

The Bafana Bafana international, who has largely been an understudy since arriving at Chiefs in 2012 from Thanda Royal Zulu, has revealed he is ready to fight for the right to play more regularly.

"I have a healthy competition with Itu (Khune) and I am learning a lot from him as a seasoned campaigner with a lot of experience in the game, but at the same time every player in the team wants to be in the starting eleven," Khuzwayo said.

"I'm happy that I am currently getting game time, but I also realise that I haven't yet established myself as a regular and I'm still faced with a challenge to work hard to consolidate a place in the first place, and I am prepared for it."

No! I think the smart thing to do is start again with a younger skipper ...

I'd keep Siya captain for now, but look to have someone else for 2027.
