Cape Town - Kaizer Chiefs coach Ernst Middendorp has confirmed that experienced goalkeeper Itumeleng Khune could return sometime in late August.
Khune has been out of action since last December after suffering a serious shoulder injury during a training ground collision with enforcer Willard Katsande.
The 32-year-old did not feature in the opening day win over Highlands Park on Sunday as Middendorp fielded Bruce Bvuma instead.
Nonetheless, the club's undisputed number one could return later this month meaning he could be set to face the likes of SuperSport United and Cape Town City.
The German told the team's official website: "He is getting closer and closer, we are working on getting him ready before the end of the current month."
Khune will either return against SuperSport United on August 24 or get a feel of Absa Premiership action in a midweek tie with Cape Town City FC three days later on August 27.
The Glamour Boys next face Black Leopards on Saturday night at Moses Mabhida Stadium with a kick-off time of 20:15.
