Khune out injured with facial fracture

Cape Town - Kaizer Chiefs captain Itumeleng Khune looks set for an extended stay on the side-lines after confirmation that he fractured a bone in his face in their 1-0 win over Chippa United in a Telkom Knockout quarter-final clash.

The Soweto giants confirmed on their official Twitter account that Khune suffered a facial fracture and would be seen by a specialist.

A coming together as full-time approached, between Khune and Kurt Lentjies saw the game at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium halted for six minutes before both players were stretchered off and transported to a nearby hospital.

Immediately after the game Chiefs gave further details on the extent of Khune's injury saying that he had received a knock above his eye.

Amakhosi moved into the semi-finals of the cup competition thanks to a Bernard Parker goal via a first-half penalty and are set to face Bidvest Wits at the Bidvest Stadium during the weekend of November 18 and 19.
