Khumalo wants to add fifth league crown to his collection

SuperSport United defender Bongani Khumalo wants to win a fifth Absa Premiership title before he retires.

The 33-year-old has had a trophy-laden career that seen him pick up four Premiership winners medal to date.

He won three with Matsatsantsa before moving overseas in 2010 and then came back to add another one with Bidvest Wits in 2017.

Khumalo said in quotes published on IOL Sport: "I've put that in pencil to be honest. Before I retire, I need to give it one more push, just to make it a nice number.

"It is something that I have at the back of my mind. I’ve got a year left with SuperSport; I have a year to get that right.

"After this season, I have a year left on my contact. I have to push again. I’ll push for that with all that I have, just to try to help the team as best as I can.

"Whether my role is playing every game, play now and then or whatever, it is about pushing whoever is there to get to that fifth one. That’s what is important."

Khumalo has also won a Telkom Knockout trophy and two MTN8 titles in his eight seasons in the South African top-flight.

SuperSport still have an outside chance of winning the league this season, if and when it resumes due to the coronavirus pandemic.

The Tshwane club are six points behind log leaders Kaizer Chiefs but have played two games more.
