Khumalo lays into ref after defeat

Cape Town - Bidvest Wits defender Bongani Khumalo launched a bitter attack at match officials following his club’s 1-0 defeat against Kaizer Chiefs on Tuesday night.

Wits went down to a 58th minute goal from George Maluleka, a result that set them back in the title race. They remain second and six points behind leaders Mamelodi Sundowns.

The defeat against appeared a bitter pill to swallow for Khumalo, who said the officiating on the day was below par. The Wits defender went on a rant bemoaning the poor quality of match handling in the local game.

“I dream of a time where you will challenge and challenge with a bit of fairness. I dream of time where we will play football and be judged fairly no matter who you come up against. No matter what the situation is.

“Today! We didn’t get much going our way, but what are we going to do? We tried to do our best and we tried to be disciplined. I dream of world where there is a bit of fairness,” said Khumalo to SuperSport.

Khumalo’s match analysis drew a sharp response from former Orlando Pirates and Kaizer Chiefs defender Jimmy Tau. The SuperSport analyst said in a post-match discussion, that Khumalo was passing the back in pointing a finger at the officials.
