Khoza wants to keep Tinkler at Pirates - report

Cape Town - Orlando Pirates chairperson Irvin Khoza remains keen on keeping Eric Tinkler at the club despite being replaced by Muhsin Ertugral.

Tinkler has been in charge of the Sea Robbers since Vladimir Vermezovic resigned as head coach in December 2015.

Mpumalanga Black Aces appointed Ertugral at the start of the 2015/16 season and he mentored AmayaZoni to a fourth place finish in last season's Absa Premiership.

The former Ajax Cape Town coach will be unveiled as the new Buccaneers boss in July with Tinkler's position at the club still up in the air.

According to KickOff, Ertugral has given a list of names he wants in his technical team ahead of the 2016/17 season.

"The club is still trying to solve other technical team issues, but the chairperson still wants to keep Tinkler in the club but in another position," said an unnamed source.

The announcement of the coaching change came with a big shock as the Turkey-born coach was not linked with the job at Pirates in recent weeks.

Sport24 reported that Stephen Keshi was touted to replace Tinkler for several weeks up until his sudden passing, after which Khoza revealed that Pirates were not in talks with the former Nigerian player and coach.
