Khan: Gaxa has fallen out of favour

Cape Town - Stars of Africa Football Academy director Farouk Khan believes that Kaizer Chiefs right-back Siboniso Gaxa may have lost his place in the first team.

Gaxa came in for criticism for his drop in form in recent weeks, especially for the sheer number of mistakes he has made and has been left out of the Chiefs starting XI for the last three games.

Khan, who was an assistant coach to Paul Dolezer at Chiefs back in 2005, believes the former Mamelodi Sundowns defender may have fallen out of favour at the club, and added that age is not on his side.

"I don't know what has happened to Pa," Khan told Goal website. "He has just faded out of the plans, you know, Pa used to play there.

"I think and he has seemed to have fallen out of favour, he made some very basic errors.

"I don't know if they are going to depend on him in the future because of age. Obviously, age is not on his side but he has been a sterling performer.

"So from a coaching point of view, I would say they need to go to the market to get a right-back."

Pa's omission from the team has given former Bloemfontein Celtic defender Kgotso Moleko a run in the starting XI and Kahn believes he can be a good option for coach Komphela.

"I think the boy who is playing there now, Kgotso, he is not a bad player," he added. "I think with time he can be a good option for them at right-back.

"They mustn't let him off, I think when he goes forward he shows a lot of grit and enterprise."
