Cape Town - Mamelodi Sundowns star midfielder Hlompho Kekana believes the club's success in winning the CAF Champions League intimidated TP Mazembe during Saturday's 1-0 CAF Super Cup win.
The once-off final sees Africa's Champions League winners face the victors of the continent's Confederations Cup play against one another.
In what was a tight affair, the Brazilians came out on top after Kekana was brought down in the area and Ricardo Nascimento stepped up to convert a late penalty.
As a result, the holding midfielder believes that Sundowns' reputation played a significant role in the club securing the honour.
He told reporters: "Maybe the star intimidated them little bit because now we also have the star. To be honest, they gave us some respect because we were playing at home.
"I can't complain much about the match, I am happy we won and it was important to win the match for all South Africans."
