Kekana 'sad' over Teko's departure

Cape Town - Mamelodi Sundowns captain Hlompho Kekana claims the loss of Teko Modise to Cape Town City will be felt this in the dressing room of the Champions of Africa.

Modise ended his six-year stint with Masandawana this off season to join Benni McCarthy's Citizens upon the expiry of his contract.

After winning every domestic honour during his time at Chloorkop, Kekana paid tribute to the talented midfielder.

"Obviously, I'm not happy to lose Teko as a team-mate, but we really couldn't do anything about it," he told Soccer Laduma website.

"We are all sad to see him go, but he made up his mind and we just have to accept the fact that he felt he needed to move on.

"People will never understand the impact he had on the team and I'm sure we all learned a lot from his experience.

"He was always there for everyone, especially the young players, guiding and encouraging them," Kekana added.

"I would like to thank him for sharing his experience and professionalism with us.

"We will all miss his presence and the life lessons we always shared as team-mates."
