Pretoria - Mamelodi Sundowns skipper Hlompho Kekana has lauded the Brazilians heroic performance following their Telkom Knockout Round of 16 win over Polokwane City on Thursday.
The recently crowned African champions kept their winning run afloat with a 2-0 triumph, at the Lucas Moripe stadium.
Kekana was on target alongside Themba Zwane to book a date against cross town rivals SuperSport United in the quarter-finals.
The 31-year-old play maker said his team-mates deserves all the credits following their recent performance both in the domestic campaign and in Africa.
The Zebediela born further hinted that Sundowns still have the chance to win everything that is still on offer in the current campaign.
"I think we should be proud of ourselves as a team considering our performances are putting week-in and week-out," said Kekana.
"I think we really deserved this achievement and I’m happy for the boys and we just won the CAF champions league.
"And honestly speaking, we can ask for more at this stage but we’ll continue striving for the team.
"We know very well that we still stand a chance to win every competition on offer but we just want to be humble and take it one game at a time.
"We are happy with everything that is going our way, our team mentality is very right and our performances as well. We respect each other, we also respect the game and all will be worth it in the end.”
Sundowns will now switch their focus to the Absa Premiership when they face Cape Town City at the Loftus Versfeld on Sunday.
Kick-off is set for 15:30.
