Kekana: Downs can be key to Bafana resurgence

Cape Town - Mamelodi Sundowns captain Hlompho Kekana has suggested that the Bafana Bafana squad will largely benefit if they rope in the core of the Chloorkop based-outfit.

The defensive midfielder says that the national team should adopt a similar strategy used by countries such as Germany and Spain, whereby the philosophy of the top club within the country is filtered into the national team.

"I think it is always important as players to influence the national team‚" he told Sowetan Live.

"If you look at Spain back in the days‚ the Barcelona team were winning everything and that used to influence their national team. As Mamelodi Sundowns‚ we are at a stage where we understand each other as players.

"So it would be nice to see at least four or five of our players in the national team‚ to add value and to try and influence the other players‚ showing them that at Sundowns this is what we do for us to achieve what we have.

"So I would like to see my Sundowns team-mates in the national team‚ for sure."
