Cape Town - Kaizer
Chiefs holding midfielder Willard Katsande is closing in on the
milestone of reaching 200 appearances for the Glamour Boys, since his
debut in 2011.
The Zimbabwe international has played 199 matches for the Steve Komphela-coached outfit. The 31-year-old made his bow for Amakhosi in Spetember 2011's MTN8 final when he replaced Siphiwe Tshabalala as a second half substitute.
Orlando Pirates would go on to win the final despite Katsande's best efforts, as Oupa Manyisa's strike in extra time meant the trophy headed to Mayfair instead of Naturena.
Nonetheless, the Mutoko-born star, who has become one of Chiefs' most influential performers in his six years with the side, could make his 200th appearance when the side face Ajax Cape Town on 13 September.
Currently, the Glamour Boys most experienced players are Itumeleng Khune and Siphiwe Tshabalala. Khune started his career with the Naturena-based outfit in 2004, while Shabba has spent a decade with the Soweto giant.
The resumption of the PSL after the international break will see Amakhosi next face the undefeated Benni McCarthy led Cape Town City at Cape Town Stadium on September 13.
Kick off is at 19:30.
