Katsande angered by Zim rumours

Cape Town - Willard Katande has refused to react to rumours that he is to step down as captain of the Zimbabwean national team.

Wantaway Zifa sponsor Wicknell Chivayo claimed on Facebook that the likes of Katsande, Knowledge Musona and Costa Nhamoinesu have been voicing their displeasure with him after announcing that he was pulling out of a sponsorship deal with the Zimbabwean Football Association (ZIFA) after only four months.

"I am having sleepless nights; Willard Katsande is calling and texting everyday saying if you withdraw, I am resigning as the captain. Musona is also calling and texting saying: 'boss journalists are very unprofessional please forgive us we need you," stated Chivayo's Facebook post.

When asked to comment on the allegations, Katsande said: "Are you intimidating me so that I respond? Why are you so rude? I don't like it at all, bye," he was quoted as saying by Bulawayo24.

"Why don't you ask him (Chivayo)? Why are you asking us? I'm sure you've his number and you can call and ask him," Katsande added.

The Kaizer Chiefs hard-man added later that he wants to focus on his club duties and was unwilling to get caught up in the rumours any further.

"Please, please boss, I don't want to comment on this saga and even what I'm saying now, I don't want to see it in the newspaper," said Katsande.

"I don't want to comment in the newspapers, I'm concentrating on Kaizer Chiefs to get back to our winning ways; that's what I'm trying to focus on. I'm focusing on Kaizer Chiefs, I don't want to comment on anything.

"You've already written about this thing, now you're calling me, for what? Are you guys having an agenda?" he added.
