Thembisa - Newly promoted Absa Premiership side Highlands Park goalkeeper Tapuwa Kapini says that they kept believing in themselves and they worked tremendously as a team to make it possible to clinch a spot in the top flight football.
The Lions of the North secured a 2-0 victory over Mbombela United in the PSL/NFD relegation and promotional play-offs at the Makhulong stadium last Wednesday courtesy of a brace by Peter Shalulile.
The veteran shot stopper said they sat down among themselves and shared the same ambitions as a team, to gain the PSL promotion, and they were fully backed by the club management and now they have rewarded them for their belief in them.
The former Amazulu and Platinum Stars goal minder also hinted that he still have a lot to offer in the top flight football and now is the perfect opportunity for him to bounce back.
“You know, many people didn’t believe in us but with God’s grace we are here,” said Kapini.
“Most people wrote us off and never believed in our team but we kept believing in ourselves.
“We sat down as a team and spoke, we said gents this is our year no matter what.
“The board of directors believes in us, we need to start believing in ourselves as well then we will make it.
“Now we have made it, look at our supporters they are extremely happy and everyone is enjoying extremely enjoying themselves because this is the moment we have been waiting for.
“Now we are going to play in the PSL where everyone wants to play and personally I believe that I still have a lot to offer.”
