Kannemeyer: Lebusa should stay put

Cape Town - Former Bafana Bafana defender David Kannemeyer feels Ajax Cape Town player of the season, Mosa Lebusa, should bide his time before leaving the club.

Lebusa has enjoyed consistent campaign at left-back for the Urban Warriors, playing an integral part in their MTN8 success last year.

The 23-year-old academy graduate is one of the more experienced players within a young squad, having featured 81 times for the first team since making his debut in 2012.

Kannemeyer, who represented Ajax during his playing career, feels Lebusa should stay at Ikamva for at least another 12 moths before moving on, amid reported interest from Kaizer Chiefs.

"There's no doubt about his qualities and the good thing is that he is still young and he will get better as he grows," Kannemeyer told Goal website.

"I think he is not getting a lot of recognition for a player of his talents, but he is a good player and would suit the Chiefs style.

"Maybe it would be best if he stayed at Ajax for another season before joining a team like Chiefs where there is a lot of pressure compared to Ajax."

I'd keep Siya captain for now, but look to have someone else for 2027.
