Cape Town - Former Kaizer Chiefs defender David Kannemeyer believes the fans should only judge coach Steve Komphela during his second season in charge.
Komphela has come under-fire in recent times, with sections of the Chiefs faithful calling for his sacking following a difficult season.
Under Komphela this term, Chiefs have lost the MTN8 and Telkom Knockout finals and have been struggling in the Premiership.
"Look, I think it all comes back to Steve who now has a new team to when Stuart Baxter was in charge," Kannemeyer told Goal website.
"These are two different philosophies so it's not easy for Steve to try and implement his own. It's always like that when you change coaches; how the players react to your philosophy. So, I think it's a work in progress.
Kannemeyer says that their is no need for Chiefs supporters to panic because they will eventually get back to winning ways when the players start to grasp the concept of Komphela's philosophy.
Meanwhile, Chiefs will be switching their focus to the Absa Premiership as they travel to the Mbombela Stadium to face Mpumalanga Black Aces.
Kick-Off is at 19:30 on Tuesday, April 12.
