Kambole charging up the charts for Soweto derby berth

Cape Town - Kaizer Chiefs striker Lazarous Kambole is gaining plenty of votes and could stand an outside chance of starting in the Carling Black Label Cup against Orlando Pirates.

Amakhosi signed last month and much is expected from the former Zesco United hitman.

While it seems likely he won't be able to catch current starters, Leonardo Castro or Bernard Parker, the fact remains he had a recent surge in votes which gives him a shot.

Currently, Castro has attained 38 513 votes whereas Parker is out in from on 59 510.

Meanwhile, votes for Kambole more than doubled in the last week as he sits on 17 486 votes.

With plenty of time to go before the CBL final on Saturday, 27 July (kick-off is at 15:00) at FNB Stadium, it seems the Zambia international has a realistic chance of chasing down Castro.

The Glamour Boys are the holders of the trophy having won it in 2017.

In 2018 it was cancelled due to the FIFA World Cup.
